Turtulele: Fiberglass, Waterproof & Shockproof Ukuleles

The turtles are back… well, sort of.

One of the things Cebu is well known for aside from tasty lechon and chicharon are guitars and ukulele. When you go to Lapu-lapu, you’ll see a lot of stores selling high-quality music instruments. Cebuanos are music-lovers, so this isn’t really a surprise to me.

According to one of the Cebu Blogging Community members during our anniversary party, a lot of turtles were harmed a few decades ago when their shells were used for ukulele and guitar body. This practice was thankfully stopped by the government because they were alarmed at the increasing rate of turtle killings.

Good news, right?

But, an even better news for us is that we can now get the same unique look for our ukuleles without having the need to hurt turtles.

Turtulele

Presenting, Turtulele – a light-weight, music-heavy, fully-casted fiberglass ukulele designed and manufactured in Cebu, Philippines.

Turtuleles are waterproof and shockproof. Since they are made of fiberglass, they can withstand extreme weather changes, making them the best memorabilia for tourists in Cebu.

I got the chance to own one since I won a contest run by Cebu Blogging Community during our anniversary. I use it everyday and find them very durable and worth every penny!
